Learned and Remember

by knoxlogic on November 1, 2011

So .. .. .. So far everything is going great! (for the most part) – My biggest thing I need to learn and remember to do is just RELAX!  I am to busy thinking about everything I need to do and not JUST DOING IT as more second nature.  My last jump (C2) I was able not to spin the ‘FCK’ out.  I was turning slightly from left to right and back until my instructor got in front of me and threw his hands up in a “STOP” motion and for some reason I DID!

Maybe it was just the mental image of seeing somebody tell me to relax in the air, but once he did that I was fine and able to just free-fall and maintain belly to earth stability!  ADVICE from a newbie: As soon you exit, mentally vision yourself being stable and relax and just have fun! :-)

Jump 5 – 10/30/2011 | Cessna 206

Equipment – Icon-250

Altitude @ 11,500

- Operated A/C Door and Observed spot.

- Great exit and response to “legs out”.  Circle of awareness @ 10,000`

- Maintained solo free fall BEFORE practice pulls.

- Stable on heading can be improved some with more relaxed body position

- Unintentional 90 degree left turn during turning of head to check altitude

- Good altitude awareness thru out entire dive

- Locked on at 6000` and waved off and pulled

- Good canopy flight and control with a stand-up landing!

PASSED and CLEARED for D1 (again) :-)
